Flock Shop Presents
“Make It Funky”
{Music & Arts Festival}
LA’s Funkiest Summertime Getdown
Chinatown Central Plaza, Los Angeles
Saturday, July 31st, 2010
2pm – 12am

LOS ANGELES, CA – Flock Shop, an independent boutique strongly supporting the arts by showcasing predominantly independent artist made goods, presents their 2nd annual “Make It Funky” Music & Arts Festival (formerly known as The Funk Rumble Block Party), Saturday, July 31st, 2010 in Chinatown’s Historic Central Plaza.

*Part music festival – part block party, Make It Funky celebrates some of the best and brightest emerging local talent with an eclectic collection of live music, DJs, vendors and artists coming together to create LA’s funkiest summertime get down.

*Enjoy amazing live performances on the Main Stage hosted by KCRW’s Jeremy Sole & Anthony Valadez featuring the modern-day deep funk sounds of LA’s own Connie Price and the Keystones with Wildchild from the LootPack and MC Daakir/Soup of Jurassic 5. Additional live performances include the quintessential soul sounds of The Rebirth, the Afrobeat, spiritual jazz and dubbed-out dancefloor beats of Jeremy Sole’s Musaics, the Classic Funk and Soul stylings of BabyStone, plus golden era inspired sounds from the live hip hop bands Simple Citizens and E Reece and Core Elements.

*50+ DJs from some of LA’s top underground clubs will be serving up a diverse array of sounds throughout 6 music areas – soul, funk, reggae, hip hop, latin, jazz, and more – taking you on a worldwide trip of infinite soundscapes.

*Visit the curated Vendor Village where you’ll find quality and unique apparel, accessories, artwork, one-of-a-kind goods & more featuring some of the most creative individuals in Southern California. The Vendor Village is an extension of Flock Shop’s philosophy of supporting the independent artist.

*Watch as over 25 artists create amazing works of art right before your eyes in the Art Walk/Gallery Area curated by The Hive Gallery, with select pieces available for purchase. Get immortalized in pictures at The Holy Vampire Photo Booth!

*Feed your hunger with a diverse variety of food, drinks & desserts in the Food Truck Court featuring some of LA’s most popular Food Trucks: Lomo Arigato (Japanese Peruvian Fusion), TheShrimpGuys (Hawaiian Style Shrimp), Flying Pig (Asian & Pacific Rim flavors with French technique), White Rabbit (Filipino Fusion), Spring Street Smokehouse (All-American BBQ), Big Swirl (Self Serve Frozen Non-Dairy Treats) & Tropical Shave Ice (Hawaiian Shave Ice)!

*For the 21 & up crowd – Chill out with some good grooves and grab a drink at one of the two full bars inside the Grand Star Jazz Club (in the festival grounds). Stay for the FREE after party at the Grand Star Jazz Club, open ‘til 2am!

*Whether you’re there for the Music, Art, Food, Vendors, or all of the above, you can be assured of one thing…. this is the one summer event in LA that should not be missed!

*So get ready to “Make it Funky” at LA’s Funkiest Summertime Getdown, Saturday, July 31st, 2010 in LA’s historic Chinatown.
