“Neo-Primitivism Art Show: Reality Reconfigured for these Strange Days”: curated by Andrew McGregor
a group show at The Hive Gallery in Los Angeles featuring artists who have created work according to their own interpretation of the theme. Neo-primitivism as we are using the definition and concept means a form of expression that does not aim for an exact reproduction of reality but rather assemblies of simple and easy to form motifs that individually represent concepts arranged to convey meaning while also attempting to please aesthetically. This is done with a modern twist utilizing that which technology provides us. Thus, what is easy to create and repeat is not necessarily trivial. However, the elements must be obvious in their subtext. A more semiotic impressionism, if you will!
